People need some dark humour every now and then to get them through life. I say this from the perspective of a veteran having served 10 years active duty in the U. S. Air Force. You need to be able to crack some jokes in tough situations to keep you from becoming overwhelmed. 

I decided to pursue acting shortly before my enlistment ended in 2014. The abridged version is that towards the end of my enlistment I became extremely depressed and almost did something stupid. Watching films, along with the companionship of my dog, kept me moving forward and working towards a goal. I want to be able to do that for others. Since I can't feasibly be a dog, I will strive to become an actor with the ability to take the audience to a place where they can forget about the problems that plague them, or think critically about their life and those around them. If I can do that for an hour and a half, or more, it may be enough to help them keep going, just as it had for me.
